The Flaunt It Movement is a grassroots youth-led organization that fosters self-love and highly-esteemed representation for womxn* through creative, community-based projects.

*womxn = A term by intersectional feminists to explicitly include trans and non-binary identities

It began as an Instagram series in November 2015 called #FlauntItFridays. The founder, Sariena Luy, shared a photo of her biggest insecurity with a story about how she is working to overcome it. Every Friday, she would share photographs accompanied by a reflection that highlighted the journey of building self-love from different womxn. It began to empower hundreds of womxn across Toronto who desired to be a part of the photo series.

In August 2016, Sariena was nominated for the RBC #Make150Count challenge, where she was given $150 to "make a difference." To address the barriers of any womxn being able to participate in the photo series, a charity organization, Success Beyond Limits, helped Sariena host the first Flaunt It open photoshoot event.

It was an inclusive, safe space that invited all womxn to model in the campaign and share their stories. The mission was to capture, highlight and celebrate the stories of womxn from all across the nation and particularly celebrate the beauty of marginalized communities, like Jane-Finch.

By December 2016, the Flaunt It Movement was officially born as an organization, working under Success Beyond Limits' trustee mentorship. Since then, Flaunt It has provided opportunities and resources for womxn all across the Greater Toronto Area to grow as artists, entrepreneurs, activists and leaders. The movement's programming comprises creating campaigns, inclusive, safe spaces, collaborative partnerships and lastly, our collection.

"To inspire all womxn to love themselves unconditionally & with the capacity to hold space plus show up for other womxn."

—OUR VISION STATEMENT

Flaunt It uses artistic activism & community building strategies to foster, empower, & inspire young womxn to confidently create social change.

Our work prioritizes supporting womxn from underserved communities as we help provide the resources and opportunities for them to excel as artists, activists, entrepreneurs, and overall, leaders.

Flaunt It is investing in the next generation of young womxn who will amplify future generations of more womxn.

Artistic activism empowers us to address the barriers that impact young womxn from excelling or leading in their fields of passion with pride and confidence. The organization connects womxn to the necessary resources or opportunities to support their endeavours.

With design thinking and an intersectional feminist framework, the pillars of Flaunt It supports the organization with the:

CREATIONS of inclusive campaigns and collections of art

CELEBRATIONS of all kinds of womxn of all intersectional identities

CONNECTIONS & COMMUNITY as we help womxn show up and hold space for one another

CONFIDENCE-BUILDING (/CAPACITY) to invest in womxn's excellence and leadership

"We believe that empowerment starts with teaching womxn the importance of loving themselves, wholeheartedly."
